It’s Dating Season! How To Succeed This Spring

It’s Dating Season! How To Succeed This Spring

Marketer and social influencer Efrain Bueres has some exotic date options living in Miami. But a lot of his creative picks can be found in almost any city. As he says, “There’s no excuse for a basic date!”

Why take this man’s word for it? As a much-followed documenter of his city’s restaurant scene, Bueres knows what to look for in a date spot. And as a personal-style tastemaker to some 25,000 Instagram followers and beyond, he is seasoned in the art of self-presentation. Here are Bueres’ three simple rules for capitalizing on spring fever in Miami, or a city where spring actually means something.

Step 1. Location. Location. Location.

Bueres isn’t knocking drinks or dinner, per se—they’re fine starting points—but why not choose something better? Stuff women like: boozy brunches, museum shows, stylish picnics, or touring murals in the happening street-art district of Wynwood. These are outings with built-in conversation starters. Plus, a little creativity, adventure, or planning shows, you know, effort. Women like that, too.

Step 2. Eat Well. Drink Good Wine.

A confident gentleman has a go-to restaurant and a go-to wine. KYU in Miami is a great date spot. Prefer to dine alfresco? Plan a picnic instead. Wine is a must and Sassoregale Sangiovese is the perfect pour for all your outdoor dining this spring. It's bold without being too heavy. Always tasteful but never tamed, it pairs well with anything—especially that person next to you on the blanket.

Step 3. Effortless Style.

Bueres has made a dapper hat and sunglasses part of his signature look. But the one must of men’s style? Denim. “Not only does it go with anything,” he says, but it also performs fine in spring weather. Denim jackets are a staple of the top-half layering that Bueres considers essential to good style all year round.

Are sneakers appropriate for a date? “Depends on the destination,” Bueres warns. But for most date spots, a classic style will be versatile enough to slide you in without a hitch. If you’re worried you’re dressed too casually, compensate with some combination of dark denim, plain dress shirt, and slim jacket.

Follow Bueres' style advice and Sassoregale's wine tips to get paired off this dating season.
