Who's the Boss? Office Style

Pity the poor men starring in Horrible Bosses—a black-hearted comedy about three working stiffs who want to kill their superiors—because there is one interview question they know they can't avoid, and Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day, and Jason Bateman have already gotten it thousands of times. Each actor has his own coping mechanism. Bateman politely refuses to engage; he won't budge from the claim that all of his bosses have been just dandy. Day, meanwhile, reminisces about long-ago temp-job shitcannings. And Sudeikis pulls a switcheroo, telling a shifty story in which he was a horrible employee. So we tossed a curveball: If you had to choose a co-star to be your boss, which of them would be less horrible?

Day: "If Sudeikis was running this company, we'd go out of business. And if it was Bateman—who is right-thinking—I'd still have a job. So I guess I'll go with Bateman."

Sudeikis: "Charlie. No, wait. It's Bateman. See, Bateman's the kind of guy who would...do exactly the kinda stuff you would hate! I'm an idiot. My answer is Charlie. Now, what was the question again?"

Bateman: "In both cases, I'd be screwed. The smart play would be to get hit by them. I could sue, buy the company, fire the prick, and take his office, his wife, and his parking spot."
