PlaStation x Xbox Which games lineup is best? + screenshots

“While success might not demand the levels of intimacy implied by the title, you’ll definitely benefit from having someone you can trust on hand. Failing that, you can always boot up a friendly AI companion instead – to forage for new ship upgrades and abilities, explore distant galaxies and fend off attacks from technicoloured alien monstrosities.”

10 Second Ninja X: "10 SECOND NINJA X is a hardcore sidescroller. You're a ninja, there are robots, you've got ten seconds to destroy them all. Get three star ratings, climb leaderboards, discover secrets and stop Captain Greatbeard."

Curses 'n Chaos: "In this 2D Arena-Brawler world, there is only one law: fight or die! The Wizard King has cursed Lea and Leo, the fiercest fighters in the land! Now living under the shadow of death, they're hounded by ghouls and hunted by the grim reaper itself! To lift the curse, you must concoct the legendary Elixir of Life! But there's only one way to get the ingredients...FIGHT MONSTERS!

Here's more about those #PlayStation Plus games for PS4...

Drawn to Death: “A multiplayer-focused, online experience, Drawn to Death invites you to dive between the pages of a teenage tearaway’s high school text book and do bloody battle in a world constructed entirely of ballpoint doodles.

“Brought to life with artistic panache and some truly bonkers character design, Drawn to Death is chaotic four-player fun with a huge emphasis on over-the-top weapons, dynamic environments and a fittingly adolescent attitude to violence – what better place to indulge your inner delinquent?”

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime: “Beam up a friend and blast off into the far reaches of a procedurally-generated universe where no two galaxies are alike and where teamwork is the only thing keeping your neon tub afloat.

Unfortunately, there are no scores available for brand new multiplayer release Drawn to Death, but if looks are anything to go by, it could prove to be one of the surprise hits of 2017.

From the God of War creator David Jaffe, it received high praise when it was in beta, where it was described as highly addictive.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime has a Metascore of 82. It's described as one of the best offline co-op games around, and one that's not to be taken lightly.

10 Second Ninja X has a Metascore of 76. Critics like the challenge and whimsical story, but admit that the precise gameplay might not be for everybody.

Curses 'n Chaos, meanwhile, has a Metascore of 70. The game is criticised for a lack of depth and repetitive gameplay, although reviewers seem to agree that it is fun and well designed.

And here's some more information about April's Xbox Games with Gold releases...

Ryse Son of Rome: "Amidst the chaos of the late Roman Empire, become soldier Marius Titus and embark on a perilous campaign to avenge the death of your family and defend the honor of Rome. In Gladiator Mode, step into the Colosseum and fight for the glory, spectacle, and entertainment of the crowds."

Telltale's The Walking Dead Season 2: "The sequel to 2012's Game of the Year continues the story of Clementine, a young girl orphaned by the undead apocalypse. Left to fend for herself, she has been forced to learn how to survive in an unforgiving world.Experience what it’s like to play as Clementine, meet new survivors, explore new locations and make gruesome decisions in this five-part game series of choice and consequence."

Darksiders: "The Horseman cometh. You are WAR! Caught in an epic struggle between Heaven and Hell, the legendary Horseman is left with only one option- to fight his way out. Wielding the fearsome sword Chaoseater, War must carve a bloody trail through Angels and Demons alike to uncover a dangerous truth...one that may bring about the end of mankind. EXPLORE the streets of a hell-ravaged city or ascend crumbling buildings to face horrors in the sky above. CONQUER Hell’s most terrifying monstrosities using a host of supernatural abilities and devastating combat moves. DESTROY your enemies by unleashing the unstoppable power of your Chaos Form! Darksiders. HEADS. WILL. ROLL."

Assassin's Creed Revelations: "When a man’s battles have been won and his enemies destroyed, what then? Where does he find purpose and meaning? To find answers to these questions, Ezio Auditore will travel east in search of the lost library of the Assassins. In Assassin’s Creed Revelations, master assassin Ezio Auditore walks in the footsteps of the legendary mentor Altair, on a journey of discovery and revelation. It is a perilous path – one that will take Ezio to Constantinople, the heart of the Ottoman Empire, where a growing army of Templars threatens to destabilize the region. In addition to Ezio’s award-winning story, a refined and expanded online multiplayer experience returns with more modes, more maps and more characters, allowing you to test your assassin skills against others from around the world."

Ryse Son of Rome only has a Metascore of 60. The big problem is that the game is so repetitive, even if it remains one of the Xbox One's best looking releases.

Telltale's The Walking Dead Season 2 fares much better, securing scores in the 80s for each individual entry. The game's biggest strength is undoubtedly its characters and storytelling.

Over on Xbox 360, Darksiders has a Metascore of 83. It's even described as a grown up version of Legend of Zelda, which is high praise, indeed.

Then there's Assassin's Creed Revelations, which has a solid Metascore of 80. The lacklustre storyline and characters are criticised, even though the game does make some much needed improvements to the series.

VERDICT: It's a tough decision, but for now, we're giving this one to Games with Gold, which gives subscribers a bit more bang for their buck.

Ryse: Son of Rome lets the side down, but it's still worth playing just for all those epic set pieces. The other three games are all very good, especially Telltale's The Walking Dead Season 2, which makes you wrestle with every agonising decision.

That said, Drawn to Death is something of an unknown, and we might revisit next week and give a new verdict when we know a bit more about what's on offer. PS Plus has some great multiplayer offerings, but the Vita Cross-buy games feel a little throwaway. That said, PS Plus feels much fresher and more exciting.

It's almost too close to call, but for now it's Xbox Games with Gold, although it's worth watching this space.
