tennis: Evans has the best result of a Grand Slam tournament, Tomic of blows

Daniel Evans has reached the fourth round on the Australian Open for the first time and has achieved him the best result of a Grand Slam tournament with 7-5, 7-6 (2), with the score 7-6 (3), a victory over Bernard Tomik, beating out the last Australian man from single games pulls.

Kerber who has beaten Pliskova's twin sister, Carolina, in the Open final of the USA last year then plays the American CoCo Vandeweghe who has beaten the former semifinalist Eugenie Bouchard on Friday earlier.


The American CoCo Vandeweghe - the first woman through to the fourth round in the Melbourn Park, winning against the former semifinalist Eugenie Bouchard 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.

Vandeweghe has quickened from a gap down in the third set and has beaten off four more points of a gap in 4 - all before closing of a match in 2 hours, 22 minutes. She has reached the fourth round on the Australian Open for the first time.

The American is estimated above, than Bouchard, but the Canadian played well and sought to come back to the fourth round in the major for the first time since 2015.

Vandeweghe then plays the winner between perfect Angelique Kerber and Kristyna Pliskova who play later on Friday.


Rainy morning has conceded mainly to cloudy heaven on Friday when the defending champion Angelique Kerber and perfect Andy Murray prepare for their three-rounds to matches on the Australian Open.

Kerber, as planned, will play Kristyna Pliskova in a match of the Rod Laver Arena while Murray who has injured his anklebone in his match of the second round was going to play Sam Querrey in Hisense Arena.

The four-time champion Roger Federer, coming back since six months aside with the left injury of a knee, was going to play Tomas Berdych in a night match on Rod Laver. It will be the most strict test which the 17-fold large champion has faced since return to a tournament game.

Matches of single games have begun in the main exhibition courts in time.
